Episode 4: Clara Tassier

Welcome to Behind the Pixels, an exclusive interview series that takes you on a captivating journey into the world of visual effects through the perspectives of our talented individuals. This week, we are delighted to exchange with Clara Tassier, who just joined the UFX Studios three months ago.

What studies do you or did you pursue?

I pursued a Master of Editing and Scripting at INSAS from 2017 to 2022, and lately I graduated from ARTFX with a Master of Digital Filmmaking.

Explain your current role in few words.

As a Compositing Artist, my role is to modify the look of a shot by removing unwanted elements such as reflections, green backgrounds, or objects that don’t coincide with the film’s chronology, but also by adding new elements that make the narrative more consistent such as stock footage, computer-generated images, or matte painting.

What is your favorite effect to work on?

I especially enjoy working on effects that require lots of creativity. This is especially the case for shots that are visually ‘impressive’ as well as for full live shots where I have to work on my own with the material I have.

What tips would you give to someone who wants to join the UFX Studios?

I would say that it is essential to have a good team spirit, as most of the VFX work require to collaborate with other artists and take commune decisions. You also definitely need to be able to adapt to new methods and technologies, as the world of VFX evolves all the time.
