Welcome to Behind the Pixels, an exclusive interview series that takes you on a captivating journey into the world of visual effects through the perspectives of our talented individuals. This week, we meet Mailys Parmentier, a VFX Project Manager at UFX Studios.
What studios do you or did you pursue?
I studied Editing and Scripting Supervision at the IAD from 2014 to 2017. Right after graduating, I started as an Assistant Editor, navigating through various projects to strengthen my skills. My career progressed as a Post-Production Manager, overseeing the entire audiovisual post-production chain, from editing to color grading and mastering. It has been one year since I entered the visual effects sector. Initially, I worked as a VFX Coordinator at Digital District, and now I occupy the position of VFX Project Manager at UFX Studios.
Explain your current role in few words.
As a VFX Project Manager, I work closely with the VFX Supervisor to manage the VFX fabrication process. My responsibilities include overseeing planning, anticipating potential issues, maintaining communication with the VFX team, and managing deadlines. I ensure that the team stays on track and that the project meets our high standards of quality.

What project were or are you especially proud of working on?
Since joining UFX Studios a few months ago, I had the great opportunity to work on my first projects as a Project Manager. These experiences have been incredibly enriching and I’ve also learned a lot by helping other producers with their projects. The collaborative environment and the chance to contribute to multiple projects were both inspiring in my professional growth.
