Department : Pipeline
Location : Brussels (Hybrid Work: minimum 3 days at the office)
Contract : Full-time 6 months fixes-term (possibility of permanent position afterwards)
As a Mid/Senior Pipeline Developer at UFX, you will join a team of professionals who constantly
strive for excellence. Your responsibilities will include the development of new solutions for
enhancing workflows and improving efficiency for various departments. You will work closely with
the department heads to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions. You will have an
eye for detail and clean code and be able to work independently while being proactive and
identifying potential bottlenecks. Reporting to your team Lead, you will monitor the development of
in-house tools and have a good understanding of the VFX workflow beyond the scope of the
software.
Your tasks & responsibilities
Pipeline Development & Maintenance:
- Design, implement, and maintain tools and scripts that enhance the functionality and
efficiency of our VFX pipeline. - Collaborate with the Heads of Department to ensure pipeline solutions align with project
needs and creative goals. - Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline issues promptly to ensure smooth production
workflows.
Tool Development:
- Create and maintain custom tools and extensions within standard DCC software
packages (Maya, Houdini, Nuke) to support creative and production teams. - Ensure tools are well-documented and user-friendly for artists and other technical
departments.
Data & Workflow Management:
- Oversee the management of data throughout the pipeline, from data ingest to client
delivery. - Develop and maintain workflows that streamline inter-department collaboration and
ensure proper data flow between creative departments.
Support & Collaboration:
- Provide daily support to artists and production teams by troubleshooting technical issues
and offering workflow solutions. - Communicate with the Production team to integrate and optimize tracking solutions
within the pipeline.
Pipeline Optimization:
- Continuously improve pipeline performance and efficiency by identifying bottlenecks and
proposing innovative solutions.
- Ensure the pipeline is scalable to meet the demands of multiple simultaneous projects.
Your profile
- Previous experience in VFX/Animation or related industry (Games, AR/VR, etc.), with at least
- 3 years of experience for mid-level and 6 years of experience for senior-level candidates
- Fluent in English, with knowledge of French and/or Dutch being a plus
- Willingness to work on-site in Brussels, Belgium, with part-time remote work negotiable
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to provide creative solutions while maintaining
technical fidelity and user-experience balance - Preferred: Strong interest in the Movie and TV industry.
Software Requirements:
- Expert knowledge of Python (C++ is a plus)
- Knowledge of 3D computer graphics and animation software such as Maya, Houdini, and
Nuke. - Strong command of the QT framework (Python flavors: PyQT, Pyside,…)
- Proficient in Linux (Bash script)
- Familiarity with Git version-tracking
Bonus Qualities:
- Knowledge of Web development
- Experience with Autodesk Flow Production Tracking or Ftrack
- Understanding of color workflows, USD, and ML tools
