Contract: Freelance
Duration: available from January 2026

UFX Studios is entering an exciting phase and we are gearing up for a series of ambitious new projects launching from January 2026 in our Walloon office in Genval (20 km from Brussels). We are looking for passionate talents to join us in shaping this next chapter of UFX Studios’ development.

Key Missions

  • Create and simulate procedural environments (landscapes, terrains, cities, rocks, vegetation,
    natural elements) using Houdini.
  • Develop dynamic procedural systems to efficiently iterate on complex environments
(scattering, erosion, growth systems, procedural layout).
  • Integrate environments into the VFX pipeline, collaborating with lighting, FX, and
compositing teams to ensure visual consistency and technical performance.
  • Optimize Houdini scenes to guarantee rendering efficiency and effective use of resources
    (LOD management, instancing, geometry optimization).
  • Maintain high artistic and visual quality of environments while following references, art
    direction, and project requirements.

Profile

  • 3 to 6 years of experience as an Environment Artist, FX Artist, or similar role in a VFX,
    animation, or real-time studio.
  • Strong expertise in Houdini (procedural environment creation, terrain tools, scattering
systems, VEX or HDA creation is a plus).
  • Good understanding of industry-standard renderers (Arnold, Karma, Redshift, Mantra, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of environment fundamentals: composition, scale, lighting interaction,
    realism, and detail management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with supervisors and multidisciplinary teams (FX, lighting,
    assets).
  • Strong problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced production
    environment.
